When rock legends get together, it’s almost always something incredible. And when legends as iconic as Queen and Paul Rodgers get together to form a musical partnership, then take it on tour, it’s even better. Taking it one step further into the realm of rock-fan heaven, that musical partnership has turned into a band of its own–Queen + Paul Rodgers announced a new tour, and a new album full of their own material.
For long-time fans of classic rock, it’s still hard to imagine Queen without Freddie Mercury, but back in late 2004, a collaboration between Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor and Raul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company fame brought crowds to their feet at the UK Music Hall of Fame awards with performances of "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions" and "All Right Now." The successful chemistry was not lost on the trio of experienced performers and Queen + Paul Rodgers was born.
The "new" group was officially formed and their first public performance together was March 2005, in South Africa, supporting Nelson Mandela’s 46664 AIDS awareness campaign. A tour quickly followed with the rock legends playing 32 sold out dates across Europe and the UK. The 23-date North American tour went on the road in 2006 and the live concert "Return of the Champions" simultaneous CD/DVD release followed soon after. Up until now, they’ve been playing the "classics"–giving fans what they wanted to hear–favourite rock anthems and tunes.
Every now and then, concert fans would get a taste of something different when on tour Queen + Paul Rodgers would treat concertgoers to surprise additions to the set list. Fans in Japan heard "I Was Born to Love You," while those at the Hyde Park concert heard a cover of John Lennon’s "Imagine." Perhaps paying tribute to Cream, on reunion tour at the same time in London, Newcastle audiences were treated to "Sunshine of Your Love." North American dates saw a frequent addition of "Dragon Attack."
Finally, Queen + Paul Rodgers have recorded an album together–the first new studio album to carry the Queen name since the Freddie Mercury days.

 Rockin’ the House
With the new album comes a new tour. Queen + Paul Rodgers are hitting the road for an extensive 28-date tour, taking them to 14 countries in seven weeks, covering Europe and the UK. The album is set to hit stores in September, and the Cosmos Rocks Tour starts 15 September 2008 in Moscow. Queen + Paul Rodgers then heads to Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands before they land in the UK in early October for six dates, including London’s O2 Arena on 13 October. After making the rounds of Nottingham, Glasgow, Cardiff, Birmingham and Liverpool the band is off to Serbia, Hungary, Spain and Austria.
Queen + Paul Rodgers concerts feature songs from their new album, of course, but these guys are veteran performers and crowd pleasers. The concert sets will also include material from both Queen and Paul Rodgers history. Sure to be included in the set lists are Queen mega-hits "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Another One Bites the Dust," "We Are the Champions," "We Will Rock You" and of course, the classic rock anthem "Bohemian Rhapsody." Expected Rodgers hits include "Feel Like Makin’ Love," "Wishing Well," "Can’t Get Enough" and "All Right Now." The new album features all new material by May, Taylor and Rodgers, plus "Say It’s Not True," previously released at the end of 2007 as a World Aids Day download.

Making the Rounds
The Cosmos Rocks Tour starts at the Moscow SCO Olympic Arena 15th and 16th September, then moves to Berlin, Antwerp, Paris, Rome, Milan and ends September in Zurich. October takes Queen + Paul Rodgers to Munich, Mannheim, Hannover, Hamburg and Rotterdam before landing the band at the Nottingham Trent FM Arena on the 10th. UK dates are:
October
Friday 10th–Nottingham Trent FM Arena Saturday 11th–Glasgow SE&CC Monday 13th–London O2 Tuesday 14th–Cardiff International Arena Thursday 16th–Birmingham NIA Saturday 18th–Liverpool Echo Arena
The Cosmos Rocks Tour then heads to Barcelona, Spain then off to the Murcia Estadio Municipal and Madrid, before heading to Budapest, Belgrade and Prague, and finally wrapping up on the 1st of November in Vienna.
The Cosmos Rocks Tour is sure to be pure auditory ambrosia for Queen and Paul Rodgers fans alike, and combining the two legends into one band is a stroke of pure, fan-pleasing genius.

David Gilmour, like his Pink Floyd predecessor Syd Barrett, played a Telecaster initially, but he soon became one of the first British rock guitar legends to favor the Fender Stratocaster and to create a signature sound with the instrument. His parents bought the Tele for David’s 21st birthday, and he played it for a year (including on the Saucerful of Secrets record) until it was lost by an airline.
Upon officially joining Pink Floyd, Gilmour purchased a custom Stratocaster (the first of many) at a Cambridge music store. During the early Pink Floyd years, Gilmour played a Strat almost exclusively, taking full advantage of its wide tonal palette and vibrato bar in his style. He used a Lewis 24-fret electric guitar on rare occasions for its extended range, as in the solo of “Money,” and continued to employ a Tele sporadically in the repertory. Gilmour strung his electric guitars with Gibson Sonomatic strings made of a customized light-top (using the standard E and B for the B and G) and heavy-bottom set gauged .010, .012, .016, .028, .038, and .050. He used a Herco heavy-gauge pick.

David Gilmour’s earliest amp setup with Pink Floyd consisted of a Selmer 50-watt head with a 4×12 speaker cabinet. By 1970, he found his signature sound with a stack made of Hiwatt 100-watt heads with WEM 4×12 cabinets. The Hiwatt/WEM combination can be heard conspicuously on Meddle and Dark Side of the Moon. In the studio, he sometimes added a Fender Twin Reverb combo amp with two 12-inch speakers to his lineup for certain parts, as on Dark Side of the Moon.
David Gilmour’s early Floyd effects consisted of a Binson Echorec tape delay (like Barrett, he used this device from his first days with the band), a Dallas-Arbiter Fuzzface fuzz box, Uni-Vibe pedal, Vox wah-wah pedal, a DeArmond volume pedal, and Leslie and Yamaha RA-200 rotating speaker cabinets. The latter were routed through the output sections of Hiwatt heads and then to WEM 4×12 cabinets. In 1972, his effects boxes were mounted in a custom cabinet, and his array of processors grew to include a second Binson Echorec and a second Fuzzface, an MXR Phase 90, a Crybaby wah-wah, an Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress flanger, Big Muff fuzz, an Orange treble and bass booster, and a custom-built tone pedal.

Additionally, Gilmour used studio effects like ADT (Automatic Double Tracking, a favorite studio processor first developed at Abbey Road Studios for the Beatles), Kepex for tremolo, various tape effects, studio echo chambers, and backwards guitar. He also employed an EMS Synthi Hi-Fi guitar synthesizer (heard on “Time” on Dark Side of the Moon), and usually played a lap steel or Fender twin neck pedal steel guitar for slide parts. He used various acoustic guitars on early Floyd tracks, later settling on Martin D-18 and D-35 models in the 1970s, and, depending on the song, alternated between fingerpicking and playing with a plectrum.

"Another Brick in the Wall" was Pink Floyd’s title for the three songs variated for the same basic theme. It was on their 1979 Concept Album, "The Wall", subtitled Parts 1, 2 and 3 respectively that all of which were written by Roger Waters, Pink Floyd’s lead songwriter and bassist.
"We Don’t Need No Education" was the popular line for the Part 2 version and was released as a single, and the band’s only hit in the UK, US and Germany and some parts of Europe. A Protest Song however was their first single since 1968 entitled "Point Me at the Sky". It was about the fixed schooling and boarding schools which eventually were banned in some countries.
A Choir was needed for Pink Floyd’s Part 2 and was instructed by Alun Renshaw from Islington Green School. Choir members were not permitted to hear the entire song and were let down as they wanted to hear more from Gilmour’s solo from the song. The Choir’s sound was overdubbed 12 times to have its impression larger and was paid £1000 though there were no royal contract arrangement.
Though Bob Seger won the Grammy for Best Performance by a Rock Group, and Pink Floyd had only its nomination, black students adopted their song as a protest anthem during the uprising in South Africa that was against the racial propaganda in 1980 and were eventually banned by its government on May of the same year.

The Music Video version of Part 2 featured students beginning their protest against the teachers and causes them to become more isolated from the society. Where a student imagines his classmates walking towards a machine and seeing them to the other end with masks, sitting at their chairs, with the teacher seen dressed in a gown, giving commands to students, while at the same time the students were singing the chorus of the song. A total chaos where in the end the students hammered all the walls and surprisingly led to an enormous bonfire. One of the most Interesting part in the history of Classic Music. The Wall by Pink Floyd.

If you happen to have heard of one of the biggest bands of all time, perhaps you’d be interested to know that Rolling Stones tickets are available once again for their latest tour. The Rolling Stones are more cultural icons at this point than a band, and their on-stage performances have been legendary for more than 40 years. How many rock and roll bands would still be hip enough to be asked to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl? The answer is one. A look at their amazing time together may explain how they’re so beloved today.
Beginnings
The band came together by chance, when friends Mick Jagger and Keith Richards began to spend time with Brian Jones, another aspiring musician. More than just about everything else, the three all liked to live it up, but they soon began to jam together.
They rehearsed for hours on end, and they soon began playing gigs in local clubs in London. It didn’t take long for them to be noticed, and they were signed to a record contract with Decca Records. Their blues-driven style was an instant success. Their first six albums climbed into the top 5 in the UK, and they placed equally well on the US charts. A big-time band was born.

Worldwide Popularity
The Rolling Stones were seen in the United States as part of the “British Invasion” of the early 1960’s along with bands like the Beatles. They also became known for their electrifying live performances, and began their still-going tradition of touring heavily, as the band enjoyed playing as much as the audiences loved getting their hands on Rolling Stones tickets.
Over time, the band released over 40 albums, and nearly every one of them went gold or platinum. In all, they have sold an astounding 240 million copies of their albums on several continents, and remain one of the most successful bands of all time.
Struggles
Like many bands of their day, the Rolling Stones also experienced their share of troubles. A source of many of these obstacles was their heavy drug use which enveloped every member of the band at one point to varying degrees.
The first to be stricken was Jones, who descended into a violent cycle of drug and alcohol abuse and was eventually replaced due to the fact that he was too unreliable. Ultimately, in 1969, Jones was found dead at the bottom of his pool surrounded by statues of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh. It was a loss that hit the band hard, but they persevered and continued to record and tour.
Within a few years, Richards was also terribly addicted to drugs and alcohol, and the addiction he would ultimately fight for years took a heavy toll. He withdrew somewhat from the writing duties that he had shared with Jagger since they began working together, and he also had more than his share of legal troubles as a result of his addiction.
Recovery
Over time though, the members of the band ultimately put their lives together and continued to record and tour at a dizzying rate throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. Their influences are numerous, and countless bands credit them with inventing the hard rock genre that’s so popular today.
The Rolling Stones are one of the world’s treasures, and even as they move into their 60’s, Rolling Stones tickets are still a huge draw just about anywhere in the world.

Supernatural is the latest release from Rock Superstar Santana, and is another great one by this talented musician.
Supernatural grabs your attention right from the very first note with Yaleo and won’t let go until the very last note of the very last song The Calling, which is another
great track by the way.

Rock music fans will recognize some of the well known contributors on the project including Dave Matthews and Eric Clapton plus a few other notables as well.
I’m of the opinion that Supernatural is certainly Santana’s best work in a few years. A totally enjoyable CD and an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I
give it two thumbs up because it’s a collection that even the casual Rock fan can appreciate and enjoy.
While the entire CD is really very good some of my favorites are track 2 - Love Of My Life, track 6 - Do You Like The Way, and track 10 - Wishing It Was
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is has to be track 5 - Smooth. What a nice track!
The down side to its popularity is that the company spends millions of dollars each year fighting of counterfeiters that like to copy the famous brand. Many of the copied bags come from places in Asia because they have mastered the art of replicating the LV Bags almost exactly as the originals.
Louis Vuitton has been involved in using Famous Celebrities to advertise there bags. Some of there most famous marketing campaigns have involved such big stars as Uma Thurman and Scarlett Johansson. Jennifer Lopez and Christina Ricci also have used there name and appeared in many print ads in some of the best fashion magazines around.
The latest campaign may be the most interesting of them all. Louis Vuitton decided to use Keith Richards of the famous Rock Band the Rolling Stones in there ad campaign. It may be a wonderful marketing strategy because of the amount of free press that it is receiving. Every late night talk show host is talking about it and just the buzz it has created is worth what they paid him.

I had always wanted to buy Rolling Stones tickets, but it seemed like, whenever they came to town, I was busy with something else. The first time I ever wanted to go to a Rolling Stones concert was almost 10 years ago. One of my good friends was getting married, and it seem like a small sacrifice to skip a concert for the marriage. Nonetheless, when they didn’t come around for a few years, I regretted missing a Rolling Stones show. I resolved to make sure to see them the next time they came around.
Unfortunately, when that happens, I just didn’t have enough money for Rolling Stones ticket prices. I was going through hard times back then, and Rolling Stones tickets don’t come cheap. There was just no way to justify spending more than 40 dollars just to see a concert. I went to the stadium and listened from outside, but it just wasn’t the same. The music came through a little bit, but it was muddy. Besides that, I didn’t get to see the stones in person. After all, isn’t that the whole point of going to a concert?

That is why, when they came around last year, I resolved to get Rolling Stones tickets. All those guys are getting pretty old and, although they can still rock, it is unclear how long they will be rocking for. I put off seeing the Grateful Dead until it was too late. I wasn’t going to make the same mistake with the Rolling Stones.
I waited in line for hours for the Rolling Stones tickets. Back then, I wasn’t as tech savvy as I am now. I thought that the best way to get tickets was to be right outside when the doors opened. Unfortunately, by that point a lot of them had already been sold to online buyers. Nonetheless, I still got good seats. I had a lot of money saved up, and was able to spring for the really premium viewing options. When I walked away with my Rolling Stones ticket, I was as happy as I could be.
The concert was a lot of fun. I went with a good friend of mine and had an absolute blast. I can’t remember the last time I danced like that! All in all, it was definitely worth the wait. I can’t wait until they come around on their next tour. I’ll definitely be there to see that.
